In some spiritual circles, Perseverance is actually considered a virtue, from what I understand. In that case, I guess I would be considered a FREAKIN' SAINT!!!
Only kiddin'. (But not really). I was quite impressed more then anything else however, with this girl, and the effort (and work) she seemed to put into this amazing pep talk. She seems like a really decent person. Good show. Nice kid...
Ya know, interestingly (on the other side of the fence) many of us also know the stories behind what is known as The 27 Club for instance. (Hmm?) Makes ya' think. Just sayin...
Hmm?
This song holds an interesting memory for me that I never really ever mentioned publicly before. The memory was when I was still living on Long Island and when I was still in my early 20's. Back then, you could pretty much send out unsolicited material to major record labels. It was in relation to a demo of a song I had recorded during the Arti Studio recording sessions. It seemed someone in relation to the A&R Dept. by the name of Michael Moriarity (not the actor) at I think it was either Capital or Columbia Records, seemingly had taken notice of the song, and made me an offer of fifty thousand dollars! To give him the rights to the song (and possibly even have us re-record it ourselves on his dime). Believe it or not. He wanted me to take a trip to Manhattan to meet up with him there. To make a long story short, I went with my long time, bass player friend Steve twice, but kept missing him. The day after the 2nd attempt to meet up with him (but missed him once again!) was when I heard this song on the radio for the first time in my car, while the whole affair was still on my mind. It totally blew me away, and actually thought that I was hearing things while I was listening to the lyrics in the song for like, the first time. We were still wet behind the ears back then, as the saying goes, and I was (although not stupid) still pretty naive when it came to things like this. Just thought it fit with this blog post. But, of course now, every time I hear this song by Paul McCartney, I recall that memory...
Another funny thing that I don't think I will ever forget, was during one of our conversations on the phone, he had said that Ted Nugent had just walked in, as I could hear him stopping in the middle of our talk to say hello to him, and as he told me who it was!
Interestingly, the name of the album that this song by McCartney is on (as one can see here) is actually called 'Tug of War'! You just can't make this sh*t up...
I will also never forget, was thinking that maybe some of the people at work had like, played a joke on me or somethin' (that's how crazy the whole thing was) but they kept emphatically denying it...
I actually missed this guy like 3 times really, because when I just came back home from the 2nd time that we went to Manhattan to meet up with him, my sister had just hung up the phone as I was walking in the door, and said that he had just called and asked for me, once again, but when I had called him back, there was no answer!
Also, really strange, was that every time I would attempt to call the phone number that this guy had provided, no one ever answered the phone! (It just kept ringing). Until I finally just gave up, and threw the phone number away...
